'Lunch at Chalki'

Prismacolor on Archival Paper

27.7cm (W) x 42cm (H

I was traveling in Greece and visited the beautiful island of Naxos. We stopped here in a shady spot for lunch and were taken to a cool stone room at the back of a restaurant where we enjoyed a terrific Greek meal and a Mythros beer! The stifling heat outside glared into the alleyway between the room in which we sat, surrounded by Greek artefacts, and the stone wall next door. This old, old building, once a home, still retained the large kitchen tub in which the owners had installed a smaller clay pot to serve as a hand washing station. The solitary drip of water emerging from the tap caught my attention, and I couldn't help but snap this image to draw when I got home. The antiquity of Greece is astounding and oh-so-beautiful!

Prismacolor was the perfect medium to blend to form the stones of this building. Can't wait to get back there for another visit!

Have you ever been?

This work is on a piece of paper 29.7 x 42cm, but there is a 1cm border, so image size is 27.7 x 40cm
