'Hinterland II - North of Maleny'

I lived for a while in the Sunshine Coast Hinterland. This house sits near the township of Maleny, and I spotted it early in Autumn, after a wet summer. The cloudy sky was swirling with the promise of even more rain, and the grass had begun to turn to gold in the cooling temperatures.
I chose an orange piece of pastel paper (paper with a 'tooth' to hold the pastel on it) to lend warmth to the image. You will see it poking through the pastel here and there. I enjoy pastels as they are immediate and give the feel of spontaneity. This image is NOT fixed, and would be shipped in tissue paper and rolled in a tube to protect the image. Fixing pastel works often robs them of the colour, so although delicate to handle, this work is true to its original vibrancy.
