The stony creek beds that lay in the run off gullies of Deer Reserve have summer creeks that chatter after rain and dry to pools along the tumbled rock beds when the weather is dry. On a long Sunday drive we stopped at this creek crossing. The deep shadows across the stones so beautifully reflected the bright blue sky, turning the whitened rocks into blue stones, deep within the reflected light of the shaded areas. The image came from after the rain, when the creek was beginning to slow, and the summer was lengthening to autumn. The varied colours of the Somerset area are always a delight!
This image is one of a series of 15 gouache works of the Somerset Region ('The Somerset Series') and is also reproduced as a limited edition (1/100) fine art giclée print, available from the 'Fine Art Print' section. If you would like to purchase this work framed (extra cost), please contact me.
